About JR Central Towers

A super high-rise commercial building (station building) adjacent to JR Nagoya Station in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, and the location of the JR Central (JR Tokai) headquarters.

It is a multi-purpose commercial complex that houses JR Nagoya Takashimaya, Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel, and offices, and consists of two towers each over 200 meters tall. The office tower has 51 floors above ground and a height of 245 meters, while the hotel tower has 53 floors above ground and a height of 226 meters, making it one of Japan’s representative twin towers. The department store section is directly connected to the adjacent JR Gate Tower.

Since its full opening in 2000, JR Central Towers has been a station building loved by many people, including local residents and tourists. The entrance right next to the Golden Clock in the central concourse of Nagoya Station is JR Nagoya Takashimaya, and if you pass the Golden Clock, go out the Sakura-dori Exit, turn left, and go up the escalator, you will reach the 2nd-floor entrance of JR Gate Tower. In addition to its excellent accessibility, it houses a wide variety of shops that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, making it one of the representative spots of Meieki, one of Nagoya’s downtown areas.

On the 15th floor of JR Central Towers, there is an observation floor called Sky Street with glass walls from floor to ceiling. Admission is free, and you can enjoy a sweeping view of Nagoya City. On clear days, you can see mountains such as Mount Ontake and Mount Norikura, and at night you can enjoy the night view of Nagoya.

One of Japan’s largest restaurant districts

On the 12th and 13th floors of the Towers Plaza and Gate Tower Plaza restaurant areas, there is a restaurant district with more than 70 establishments in total, boasting one of the largest scales in Japan. A wide range of cuisines are available, including Japanese, Western, and Chinese, allowing you to choose according to your mood, budget, and occasion.

The giant Christmas tree is a winter tradition

There is an event space on the 1st floor of JR Gate Tower, and every year during the Christmas season, one of the largest trees in the Nagoya area, approximately 12 meters tall, appears. The theme changes from year to year, and at night there are sometimes light and sound performances. This photogenic space is also popular as a date spot.
