Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure

How Japaniche earns revenue, how we label ads and affiliate links, and how we keep editorial decisions independent of advertisers and partners.

“
Japaniche is funded by advertising and affiliate commissions. When you buy a product or book a hotel or tour through a link in our articles, we may earn a commission. This does not change the price you pay.
This revenue goes toward running Japaniche.

This page explains how the site earns revenue, how we label advertising, and how advertising relates to our editorial work. The site is run by GROWTH Holdings Inc. (“we” or “us”).

1. How We Earn Revenue

The site has three sources of revenue.

  • Display ads: Third-party ads served through Google AdSense. Google selects the ads that appear, and we do not choose individual ads.
  • Affiliate links: Links to partner services. When a purchase or booking is completed through one of these links, we may earn a commission.
  • Sponsored articles: Articles we produce in exchange for payment from a third party. If we publish one, we say so at the top of the article.

2. How Ads and Affiliate Links Are Labeled

Ads in our articles, and cards or booking widgets that contain affiliate links, are labeled “Sponsored” or “PR.”

Some external links in our articles are automatically converted into affiliate links by a partner’s script. This means we may earn a commission on bookings or purchases made through a link even when it carries no label.

3. Our Main Partners

We take part in affiliate programs such as the following.

  • Hotels, tours, and activities: Booking.com, Klook, Viator, and others
  • Products, books, and streaming services: Amazon, Rakuten, DLsite, and others
  • Affiliate networks: Travelpayouts and others

As an Amazon Associate, Japaniche earns from qualifying purchases.

4. Editorial Independence

Our editors decide which places, products, and services we cover and how we assess them.

  • Whether we have a partnership, and how much it pays, has no bearing on whether we cover something or where it appears in a list.
  • We also cover shops and services we have no partnership with when we think they will help our readers.
  • Advertisers and partners do not review or edit articles before publication. For sponsored articles, we may ask the sponsor to confirm facts, but final decisions on content and wording rest with our editors.

For how we produce our articles, see our Editorial Policy.

5. Purchases and Bookings on Other Sites

When you buy or book through a link, the contract is between you and that business. Please check prices, availability, cancellation policies, and other terms on the business’s own site.

Prices mentioned in our articles were correct when we checked them and may have changed since.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and track affiliate referrals. Our Privacy Policy explains what information is collected and how it is used. You can change your consent to advertising and affiliate tracking at any time from “Cookie Settings” in the footer.

7. Contact

For questions about advertising or partnerships, please use our contact form. For advertising and sponsorship inquiries, see Coverage & Partnerships.
