Coverage & Partnerships
Information for businesses featured on Japaniche and for companies and local governments interested in coverage or advertising: how we cover businesses, how to request corrections or removal, coverage requests from local governments, and advertising inquiries.
Japaniche covers otaku culture such as anime, manga, and games, along with travel and culture in Japan, in both English and Japanese. We write for readers outside Japan who are interested in the country, travelers planning a visit, and English speakers living in Japan. The site is run by GROWTH Holdings Inc.
This page is for shops, venues, and companies we have featured on the site, and for companies and local governments interested in coverage or advertising.
How We Feature Businesses
We feature shops and venues that our editors believe will be useful to our readers. We do not charge a fee to be featured in an article, and you are free to decline being featured.
When we visit in person to take photos inside a shop or write about our experience, we speak to the staff first and follow the shop’s photography rules.
When we write about a business based on publicly available information, we check primary sources such as the official website and cite them. When we use someone else’s text or images, we do so within the requirements for quotation under Japan’s Copyright Act or under the terms set by the rights holder.
What We Value
- Sharing information you can trust
- Being clear about our sources
- Showing how to enjoy things, not just consume them
- Putting our readers first
Our Editorial Policy explains in detail how we produce our articles.
Requesting Corrections or Removal
If you would like us to correct or update information, or to remove coverage of your business, please contact us through our contact form and include the URL of the page in question.
We respond as quickly as we can. Please allow one to two business days, excluding weekends and Japanese public holidays.
For Local Governments
We give priority consideration to coverage requests from local governments. Information about places that served as settings for anime and manga, and about areas building tourism around otaku culture, can give overseas readers a reason to explore more of Japan.
We currently produce and publish articles requested by local governments free of charge. Any costs beyond producing the article are discussed case by case.
As with all our articles, our editors decide whether to publish and what the article says. We may ask you to confirm facts before publication.
If we receive transport, accommodation, admission, or similar support for a story, we disclose it in the article.
Please send requests through our contact form, including the name of your municipality, your department, and what you would like us to feature.
Advertising and Sponsorship Inquiries
We also accept inquiries about advertising and sponsored articles through our contact form.
Articles we produce in exchange for payment are labeled “Sponsored” at the top. Paid or not, our editors decide the content and wording of every article, with accuracy and usefulness to readers as the priority. For details, see our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.
