About Iino UFO Museum
UFO Fureaikan is a city-run exhibition facility devoted to UFOs, in the Iino district of Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture. It opened in 1992, and the surrounding area is known as UFO no Sato, the home of UFOs.
In an Area of Frequent UFO Sightings
The museum stands right beside a mountain called Senganmori. It is a neat cone 462.5 meters above sea level, nicknamed the Iino Pyramid. Accounts of mysterious glowing objects have been passed down here since long ago.
The area that includes UFO Fureaikan, along with UFO Plaza and a cluster of megaliths, is presented to visitors as the Mystery Experience Zone.
Exhibits and the 3D Theater
Inside, you can see displays of UFO-related material, and there are screenings in a 3D theater. The museum also carries on the aims of a research group founded by Arai Kin'ichi, who is regarded as the leading figure in UFO research in Japan.
The International UFO Laboratory
On June 24, 2021, timed to coincide with UFO Day, the International UFO Laboratory opened inside the museum. Mikami Takeharu, editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine Mu, serves as its director. Its stated aim is to collect, analyze and publish UFO sighting reports from around the world. This is an entirely serious research institute.
The Senganmori Festival, tied to UFO Day, is also held every June.
The Mu Logo Sculpture
Since November 2024, the logo sculpture of the magazine Mu has also been on permanent display inside. It was made for the Mu exhibition marking the magazine's 40th anniversary, and after appearing at an event at Hanayashiki, an amusement park in Asakusa, it was donated here.
The UFO Festival
Iino holds the UFO Festival, one of the largest events in Japan devoted to UFOs and aliens.
“Participants dressed as aliens parade through the Iino shopping street, and the alien the judges select from among them is invited on stage to put on a UFO-summoning performance.
Quoted from the official website.
If you think you have what it takes, consider bringing an alien costume of your own.
And there just might be a real alien mixed in among the costumed paraders...

Look up at Senganmori after going through the exhibits, and an ordinary country hill starts to look a little different.
