Bic Camera Akiba

Bic Camera AKIBA is an electronics store about a four-minute walk from the Electric Town Exit of JR Akihabara Station. Bic Camera took over the former Sofmap Akihabara Main Store building and opened this location in June 2017, its first Akihabara store under its own name. The store occupies floors one through seven, and its sales floors total about 4,700 square meters.

Sofmap has remained in business in Akihabara since then. Its operations here were divided into five specialist stores in 2017, and after several rounds of reorganization it runs four today.

Bic Camera AKIBA is divided by floor, with sections for computers, home appliances, and more.

The Seventh Floor: Toys and Games

The floor's stock includes character goods, puzzles, game software, VR, figures, and plastic models. This is also the floor where you can buy trading cards.

Buying Trading Cards by Lottery

Sales by drawing for items such as Pokémon cards are announced on the store's official X account. Entering requires a Bic Camera point card, and other conditions vary from drawing to drawing. You enter in person at the seventh-floor register.

Results are posted in the store and on the same X account. The window for winners to buy varies by drawing, and has typically run a few days. You buy in person as well, and the announcement falls between the two visits, so days pass in between. A short trip may not leave room for both.

Location and Getting There

From the Electric Town Exit of JR Akihabara Station, walk past Akihabara Radio Kaikan out to Chuo-dori, then head north. The store faces the street.

Another big electronics store in Akihabara, Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Akiba, sits on the east side of Akihabara Station, about a minute away on foot. Bic Camera AKIBA is on the opposite side, in Electric Town.

Payment options include credit cards, electronic money such as transit IC cards, and QR code payments.
