About at-home cafe Akihabara Main Store

at-home cafe Akihabara Main Store is the long-established flagship that bills itself as the maid cafe where "moe moe kyun" was born. More than 700 maids are on staff across the group, which now runs 13 shops, according to the official site as of 2026. In 2005, the shop's own maid unit, Kanzen Maid Sengen, made the top ten at Japan's New Words and Buzzwords Awards with "moe~." When it comes to maid cafes in Akihabara, this is one of the first names to come up.

The cafe sits in the Mitsuwa Building, right in the heart of Akihabara's Electric Town. It spans five floors, from the third up to the seventh, and each one has its own interior theme. From the Electric Town Exit of JR Akihabara Station, it's just a short walk. When the elevator doors open, a maid in a uniform trimmed with ribbons and frills welcomes you with "Okaerinasaimase," a warm way of saying welcome home. Since 2012, those uniforms have been designed by KEITA MARUYAMA.

How It Works and Prices

An entry fee buys you a one-hour stay. As of July 2026, it runs 850 yen for adults and is free for elementary school children and younger, tax included. On top of that fee, every guest orders one drink or a set. Inside, guests step into a world where they're addressed as Masters and Princesses and waited on by the maids.

Each dish you order gets a charm called Ai-kome, which means putting love into the dish. Together with your maid you chant the magic spell, and the idea is that it makes the food taste even better. The trick is to set your shyness aside and say it right along with her.

Signature Dishes and Cheki

The signature dish is the Pipiyo Piyo-piyo♪ Hiyoko-san Omurice, an omelet over rice. A maid draws a picture on it in ketchup, right in front of you. There's also the Maid's Ribbon Cake, which a maid finishes by writing your name on it, and the Magic Shaker, a drink you finish by shaking it up together with your maid.

For a keepsake to take home, there's the Cheki you take with a maid. It's an instant photo of the two of you, printed on the spot, starting at 850 yen. An extra charge applies depending on the rank of the maid you request, and both prices are current as of July 2026. There's also a birthday perk. Show your ID around your birthday and you'll receive a Cheki or cake.

Visiting from Abroad

The cafe also takes care to accommodate English speakers. Its official site notes that the maids take an English lesson when they join, and English menus and an English booking page are available too.

Payment options are wide-ranging, too. Along with credit cards, you can use electronic money such as transit IC cards, plus barcode payment services like PayPay and Alipay. That way, you can enjoy your time as a Master or Princess without keeping an eye on how much cash is left in your wallet.
