Where is Sasebo?

Sasebo City is located in the northern part of Nagasaki Prefecture, spreading across the western side of Kyushu mainland. It borders Takeo City (Saga Prefecture) to the east, Omura City and Saikai City to the south, and Hirado City and Matsuura City to the north. Additionally, the western side faces the Goto Sea, and the city area features a complex coastline with over 200 islands known as Kujukushima.

Particularly due to the presence of a U.S. military base, a Western-style townscape has developed. The city is divided into the bustling downtown area, suburban residential areas, and the nature-rich island regions, each showcasing different characteristics.

Getting Around

Sasebo City is accessible via JR Sasebo Line's Sasebo Station. It takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes from Fukuoka City by the Limited Express Midori, and about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Nagasaki City by the Limited Express Kamome.

For getting around the city, route buses are convenient, and there are direct buses to Huis Ten Bosch and Kujukushima. If you use a rental car, it becomes easier to access suburban tourist spots such as Saikai National Park.
