KENELE STAND Akihabara

KENELE STAND Akihabara is a shop inside the ticket gates at JR Akihabara Station, devoted entirely to capsule toys, or gachapon. Run by the miniature maker Kenelephant, it opened on July 18, 2020.

Inside the Station Ticket Gates

The shop is on the third floor of the station, in the concourse behind Platform 6 of the Sobu Line. Because it sits inside the JR ticket gates, you need a ticket of some kind to get in, such as a regular train ticket or a platform ticket. You buy a platform ticket to pass through the gates without taking a train.

Mainly Miniatures Aimed at Adults

The opening announcement described the shop as specializing in "capsule toys for adults" and said it would stock products from other companies, including Kitan Club and Kaiyodo, alongside its own brand.

Staples of the lineup include miniatures of Karimoku60 furniture and of the cat character Shigotoneko. The shop is said to have about 150 to 170 capsule toy machines.
