BIRTHDAY MORE
About BIRTHDAY MORE
BIRTHDAY MORE is a small cafe in Wakamatsucho, Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo. It serves tea, house-made baked goods, and spice curry in an antique-style interior. The staff wear maid outfits. Even so, the shop does not call itself a maid cafe. It calls itself simply a kissaten, a traditional-style Japanese cafe.
The cafe moved to its current location in April 2025. Before that, it operated in Yotsuya from June 2021. The nearest stop is Wakamatsu-kawada Station on the Toei Oedo Line, about a four-minute walk away.
A good landmark is the large hospital across the street, the National Center for Global Health and Medicine.
Scones and Tea
The house-made scones are the signature item. The dough is kneaded with cultured butter, and the scones are brought to the table fresh from the oven. The daily sweets, baked goods, and spice curry are house-made as well.
It offers more than thirty kinds of tea, mainly leaves from specialty tea houses such as Mariage Frères. In 2023, the Japan Tea Association certified it as a shop that serves excellent tea. The owner is also a tea instructor, certified to teach proper brewing, so you can expect a good cup whenever you visit.
The best-known offering is the Tea Free Party. You can drink freely from about twenty kinds of tea, and freshly baked scones are included. As of July 2026, it costs 4,000 yen.
A Cafe Built Around Its Guests
The interior is tastefully arranged in an antique style. The cute maid outfits worn by the staff are handmade. They pair a dress with an apron and a headband, and come in three versions, black, light gray, and blue stripe.
A growing number of guests reportedly come in with plushies or merchandise of their oshi, a favorite character or idol. Regulars and fans affectionately call it "Deimoa."
Reservations Are Required
A reservation is required to visit. Bookings are accepted only through the reservation site TableCheck, and open two weeks before the date you want to visit. Each reservation is for one to four people. Seating is on a 90-minute rotation.
There is no waiting area, so even if you arrive ahead of your reservation, you cannot wait inside. Opening hours run from 11:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There are no set closing days. The monthly opening calendar is announced on the blogging platform note and on social media.
Photography inside is allowed, but a few rules apply. Guests are asked not to photograph the staff, even in ways that would not identify anyone. Care is also expected regarding other customers who might appear in the frame.
Besides cash, the cafe accepts credit cards, IC cards, and QR code payments.
