Ohatsu Tenjin and Chikamatsu Monzaemon

In Kita Ward you will find Tsuyunoten Shrine, affectionately known as “Ohatsu Tenjin.” It is the setting of the bunraku puppet play "The Love Suicides at Sonezaki" written by the Edo-period playwright Chikamatsu Monzaemon, and it came to be called “Ohatsu Tenjin” after the name of the heroine. As a power spot for fulfilling romantic wishes, it attracts worshippers from both Japan and abroad.

Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street: Japan’s Longest Arcade

Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street stretches from Kita Ward into the neighboring Miyakojima Ward, forming Japan’s longest covered shopping arcade at approximately 2.6 km in total length. From old-fashioned delicatessens and clothing shops to standing bars and takoyaki stands, you can soak up Osaka’s down-to-earth, everyday atmosphere. Just walking along the street is enjoyable and offers a valuable chance to experience the daily lives of local residents.

Nakanoshima: A Cultural Zone Surrounded by Water and Greenery

Nakanoshima, sandwiched between the Dojima River and the Tosabori River, is a cultural area where museums, libraries, and public halls are concentrated. Osaka City Central Public Hall is a beautiful Neo-Renaissance-style building that is illuminated at night, creating a magical atmosphere. In spring, the rose garden reaches its peak, and the area is cherished by citizens as an urban oasis.

Experience Osaka’s “Konamon” (Flour-Based) Food Culture
