Sana Yoshida

Jujutsu Kaisen was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2018 to 2024. Both the anime and movie versions have gained tremendous popularity, and a spin-off set in the near future, Jujutsu Kaisen ≡ (Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo), began serialization in 2025.
In this article, we will introduce the pilgrimage sites from the animated movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which is based on the prequel Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High.
Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture
Iwate Prefecture is a city in northern Japan. It is also the hometown of Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen.
In the southern part of the prefecture, there is a tradition of female mediums called "Itako" who summon the souls of the dead, making this region deeply connected to the main theme of Jujutsu Kaisen: curses.
Shobo-ji Temple

Opened in 1348, this is the first Soto Zen temple in the Tohoku region, with its main hall designated as an important cultural property of Japan.
In the movie "Jujutsu Kaisen 0," it is considered the model for the temple where Yuta Okkotsu trained before transferring to Tokyo Jujutsu High. Although there are differences in details, you can see how remarkably similar they are.
Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture
Miyagi Prefecture is a city classified as part of the Tohoku region, located south of Iwate Prefecture. Like Iwate Prefecture, it frequently appears in Jujutsu Kaisen because it is the hometown where the author, Gege Akutami, spent his middle and high school years.
Hapina Nakakecho Shopping Street
This is the place where Toge Inumaki and Yuta Okkotsu visit to exorcise a cursed spirit. While it appears as a run-down shopping street in the series, in reality, it is a lively street with about 100 shops.
In addition to its convenient access near Sendai Station and Sendai Parco, it's a popular spot that attracts many people for events such as the Tanabata Festival held every July and New Year's first sales events.
Matsumoto Kiyoshi Sendai Chuo-dori Store
As you can see from the image, although the coloring differs from the actual store, it is said to be the model for the pharmacy where Inumaki purchased throat medicine.
Tokyo
The well-known center of Japan. In Jujutsu Kaisen, throughout both the main series and the movie, it is the city where the protagonists attend Jujutsu High.
Kabukicho Ichibangai (Kabukicho Ichiban Street)
This appears as a flashback in the scene where Geto declares that he will conduct the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons in Tokyo and Kyoto.
Harajuku Takeshita Street
A hub of pop culture where you can enjoy shopping for fashion items, cosmetics, sweets, and more.
Although not depicted, when Geto comes to declare war on Jujutsu High, he mentions that he is going to Takeshita Street because Nanako and others wanted to eat crepes.
Near the Southeast Exit of Shinjuku Station
This is depicted in the scene where Tokyo jujutsu sorcerers are on alert in the area on the day of the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.

Hanazono Shrine
A shrine located in the center of Shinjuku, worshipped as the guardian deity of the town and the deity of performing arts.
The entrance appears briefly in the series and official PV. There is a scene where the adjacent building is severely damaged after the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons begins.
Near Shinjuku Piccadilly
This is believed to be the area where Takuma Ino and Atsuya Kusakabe were fighting during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.
Near Takashimaya Times Square
This is believed to be the area where Mei Mei was fighting during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.
Shinjuku Golden Gai
A drinking district near Kabukicho with rows of wooden tenement houses. More than 200 establishments are concentrated in narrow alleys, bustling with many people at night.
In the series, it appears in the scene where Ijichi urges Nanako and Mimiko to abandon the fight.
Kyoto
In the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0, battle scenes featuring the Kyoto school members, which were not depicted in the original work, were added.

This entire area serves as the setting for the scene depicting the battle between Nanami and the cursed spirits that appeared in Kyoto.
Comparing the scene in the series with the actual location, you can see that the characteristic arch-shaped decorations match.
Hanami Koji Street
One of the major north-south streets in Kyoto City, extending about 1 km from Sanjo Street to Yasui Kitamon Street. It runs through the center of Gion, and south of Shijo Street it features an especially picturesque townscape lined with teahouses.
It appears in the scene where the Kyoto school students are fighting.
What is Jujutsu Kaisen
It is a dark fantasy battle manga by Gege Akutami that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2018 to 2024. The story depicting the battles between cursed spirits and monsters born from negative human emotions and jujutsu sorcerers who exorcise them using jujutsu became popular, leading to anime and stage adaptations.
The series include: Jujutsu Kaisen, which depicts the battles and lives of jujutsu sorcerers including Yuji Itadori, who became the vessel for the Special Grade Cursed Object Ryomen Sukuna due to a certain incident; Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High, which is a prequel depicting how Okkotsu, a senior student of Itadori and others, came to Jujutsu High, his growth, and the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons by Geto; and the spin-off Jujutsu Kaisen ≡ (Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo), written by Gege Akutami and illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, set in the near future, which began serialization in 2025.
