About TOKYO SKYTREE
Tokyo Skytree is a broadcasting and observation tower that opened in May 2012. Standing at 634 meters, it is the tallest tower in the world and the third-tallest structure in the world (as of January 2026). Along with the commercial facility "Tokyo Solamachi," it forms the "Tokyo Skytree Town."
634 Meters: The World’s Tallest Tower

Tokyo Skytree / Photo AC
Originally, "Tokyo Tower," famous for its red and white steel structure, was the primary landmark of Tokyo. However, because Tokyo Tower (333m) is located in the city center where signals were becoming blocked by high-rise buildings, Tokyo Skytree was newly constructed to improve the broadcasting environment for mobile devices.
To prevent interference from skyscrapers, a height of over 600 meters was required. The final height of 634m was chosen as a play on words (goroawase) for "Musashi Province" (Musashi-no-kuni), the old name for the area surrounding Tokyo: 6 (Mu), 3 (sa), 4 (shi).
How to Get to the Observation Decks
Tickets can be purchased online from overseas, or on the day of your visit at the Tokyo Skytree 4F Ticket Counter. (Please note that during peak seasons, tickets may not be available for purchase at the counter.)
Various options are available, including set tickets for the Tembo Deck (350m) and Tembo Galleria (450m), the "Skytree Enjoy Pack" for domestic visitors, and tickets for special exhibitions.
Tembo Deck (340m – 350m Above Ground)
The Tembo Deck is divided into three levels:
- Floor 340: Features a cafe and a glass floor where you can look straight down to experience the height.
- Floor 345: Home to a restaurant and the Tokyo Skytree Official Shop.
- Floor 350: Features a standing-style cafe.
Tembo Galleria (450m Above Ground)
After taking an elevator further up from the Tembo Deck, you will arrive at a gallery with a 360° view. The path consists of an inclined slope, and as you walk around it, you will reach the highest point at 451.2 meters, known as "Sorakara Point."

- Iki (Chic): A pale blue inspired by the waters of the Sumida River.
- Miyabi (Elegance): Featuring Edo Purple as the theme color with a sparkle like gold leaf.
- Nobori (Prosperity): Based on the auspicious "Tachibana" (orange) color.
Special lighting is also displayed during events. Past special illuminations have included "Hinomaru" (the Japanese flag), and colors for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and White Day. Additionally, colors have been designed to celebrate movie releases or collaborations, such as those inspired by Izuku Midoriya and All Might (My Hero Academia), protagonists from the first six parts of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series, Tanjiro Kamado and Kyojuro Rengoku (Demon Slayer), and characters from Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
