About Roppongi Hills

Located in Roppongi, Minato City, Tokyo, this is a mixed-use complex featuring office buildings, residential housing, a hotel, the TV Asahi headquarters, a movie theater, a shopping mall, restaurants, and more.

The Concept of Roppongi Hills

Based on the concept of the "Cultural Heart of the City," it functions as a "compact city" that integrates various functions such as work, living, play, learning, commerce, and relaxation. Designed as a place to warmly welcome people from all over the world and nurture "open-minded" individuals, the redevelopment took over 15 years to complete.

Since its opening in 2003, it has deepened its bond with people through "Town Management" (an integrated approach to operating the district) and has grown into a destination that attracts over 40 million visitors annually.

The "Roppongi Hills Mori Tower," a 54-story skyscraper that serves as the headquarters for Minato City-based developer Mori Building, houses a shopping mall, offices, an observation deck, and an art museum. Furthermore, it is equipped with a seismic isolation structure and its own power generation facilities, making it a "city where people can take refuge during a disaster."

Access

  • Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line "Roppongi Station": Directly connected via Exit 1C.
  • Toei Oedo Line "Roppongi Station": Take Exit 3 and turn left. Proceed straight for a short while to see the "Roppongi Metro Hat," characterized by its circular shape. Climb the stairs at the back of the building to reach the plaza in front of Roppongi Hills.
  • Toei Oedo Line "Azabu-juban Station": Take Exit 7 and turn right. After walking straight for about 6 minutes, you will see a "Tsutaya Books" street-level store on your left; the surrounding area is "Roppongi Hills."

Mohri Garden

A Japanese garden that retains traces of a feudal lord's (Daimyo) estate from the Edo period. It was created in 1650 when Hidemoto Mohri, grandson of Motonari Mohri, established a residence upon becoming the Governor of Kai. In 1943, it was designated as a historic site (currently a Tokyo Metropolitan Historic Site) as the "Former Site of the Mohri Mansion." Redevelopment began in 2000, and it is now known as "Mohri Garden."

In addition to seasonal plants such as azaleas, water lilies, ginkgo trees, and Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms, the garden is loved for its "Space Medaka"—descendants of killifish born in space during an experiment on the Space Shuttle Columbia—and the spot-billed ducks that visit in the spring.

Keyakizaka Complex Rooftop Garden

A farm located 45 meters above ground in a space that is normally closed to the public. Agricultural experiences and other events are held here as part of the Roppongi Hills community activities.

In certain spots, it is possible to take photos that include Tokyo Tower in the frame, making it an extremely popular photo spot. A collaboration with the JRA (Japan Racing Association) is also being held, allowing visitors to enjoy charming Christmas illuminations that combine 3D animation with lighting effects.
